OUR STORY

A note from our founder-

I grew up with an army of sisters – there’s 6 girls and 1 boy in my sibling squad, yes I know that poor boy. This meant that all things girl is nothing new to me. Between plucking each other’s eyebrows and “borrowing” each other’s newly bought sundress it was a bustling beauty factory at my house.

My parents were no strangers to the world of beauty either. My immigrant mother and father worked as nail technicians to support their children and provide us with an education, and I grew up watching them (literally, from the back of the salon which doubled as our second home/their makeshift daycare). I loved it though, knowing that a good gloss was always at arm’s reach with enough eyelash batting and weaponized puppy dog faces. It was such a small part of me, yet it made me feel so good.

What started out as my parent’s means of supporting their children developed into a growing love for the wonder and spark of a good polish. It grew into that feeling you get with a fresh set of nails. I’m always chasing that feeling in everything I do, that spirit of love, creativity, and magic. The nail salon became a mixed space for me – a therapeutic one when I needed my mom to double down as a nail tech/therapist, a place to connect to my community, and a beauty haven to get in touch with people a little bit closer. Bijou is dedicated to bringing you that experience using high quality ingredients and a team of experienced staff. I’m proud of what we’ve created, and I hope that everyone experiences that same magic at our salon.
